“Wow, my team never has any conflicts!” Hmmm, while your team may seem perfect on the surface, it could actually be suffering from groupthink, where everyone is always nodding in agreement without feeling safe to express a different opinion. This hurts your team’s decision-making ability and creativity.
So, how can your team be AUTHENTIC and have a HEALTHY CONFLICT for better decisions?
It all depends on:
1. How ASSERTIVE each of you is – satisfying your own agenda – and
2. How COOPERATIVE you are – satisfying others’ agendas.
Okay – If everyone is too assertive and not cooperative, it leads to aggressive COMPETITION, while too much cooperation without assertion leads to weak-ass ACCOMODATION. You don’t want either.
