Inclusive meetings help everyone be themselves and contribute meaningfully. Why hold a meeting if it’s all about you and a chosen few? So here’s how to make your meetings more inclusive:
- Send the agenda and any useful pre-work ahead of time. This will help everyone come prepared equally.
- If you need to brainstorm, do so silently at first and have everyone note down their ideas. This way, there’s no influencing or credit stealing.
- Ensure there’s enough, equally distributed time to hear from all. No interruptions but also don’t force anyone to speak.
- Finally, confirm that you’ve heard from everyone who wanted to speak and that there is nothing else to add or discuss.
