The Problem with Performance Review

Everything that you talk about with your manager focuses mainly on your “Opportunities”.

They say working is super important, but is it really?

So traditionally speaking your strengths are tasks or skills that you’re really good at and you really enjoy doing and opportunities are the things that you kind of suck at.

Now, here’s the thing not everyone is going to be perfect.

Everyone’s going to have their strengths and opportunities.

So, let’s say X is your skill level. You would be pretty low at your opportunities but really high in your strengths. Now in order to reach a mastery level you would need to put in a lot more hours and energy when you’re working on your opportunities in order to reach the mastery level when compared to your strengths.

I’m not saying you cannot become a master when it comes to your opportunities but it’s going to involve a lot more struggle, a lot more hours, a lot more energy.

It’s going to seem like Hardwork.

But you can use a fraction of that in improving at your strengths in order to get to a mastery level.

It’s going to be fun, its going to be energizing, its going to feel Effortless.

So stop worrying about your opportunities and focus on building upon your strengths.

Become the go-to person, the industry expert for something unique to you and only focus on your opportunities.

That too only one or two. Be very picky if they threaten to bring down your overall performance.

Otherwise, keep getting better at what you’re good at. Become great at it effortlessly
