How to Conduct More Inclusive Meetings

Inclusive meetings help everyone be themselves and contribute meaningfully. Why hold a meeting if it’s all about you and a chosen few? So here’s how to make your meetings more inclusive:

  1. Send the agenda and any useful pre-work ahead of time. This will help everyone come prepared equally.
  2. If you need to brainstorm, do so silently at first and have everyone note down their ideas. This way, there’s no influencing or credit stealing.
  3. Ensure there’s enough, equally distributed time to hear from all. No interruptions but also don’t force anyone to speak.
  4. Finally, confirm that you’ve heard from everyone who wanted to speak and that there is nothing else to add or discuss.

Those were my 4 quick tips. If you have more, please share in the comments.
