If you had to improve something you created, like a new recipe or a written article, would you add more to it or take things away and simplify it? Our brains prefer addition over subtraction. Add more activities to a travel plan, more decor to our homes, more accomplishments to our lives, just ADD – ADD – ADD.
But knowing what you can SUBTRACT rather than add, allows you to laser-focus your efforts on what truly matters. For example – creating 1-minute videos like these is a subtraction exercise for me. It’s a bitch to take each idea and chop it down to its core but it’s well worth the effort.
So the next time you want to make your work more streamlined and powerful – SUBTRACT! Because in today’s world of information overload, less is always more.
