The Concept of ’18 Summers’ Will Sober You Up

☀️ As summer approaches, there’s a certain magic in the air.
The days grow longer, the sun shines brighter, and there’s an undeniable sense of happiness lingering on the horizon.

But amidst the excitement and anticipation of beach trips and backyard barbecues, I was hit by a sobering reality:

The Concept of “18 Summers.”

I recently stumbled upon an article that spoke of the fleeting nature of time, particularly when it comes to our relationships with loved ones.

The premise was simple yet striking:

We only have 18 summers with our children before they grow up and venture out into the world on their own…

As a mother of a 3 year old boy, this felt like a punch to the gut.

😳 Only 18 summers to soak up every ounce of his laughter?
😳 To hold him close during thunderstorms?
😳 And to watch in awe as he discovers the world around him?

It was a sudden realization that time is a precious and finite resource.

Suddenly –

  • every missed bedtime story
  • every late night working, and
  • every canceled family vacation…felt like a heart-breaking missed opportunity.

So as I find myself on the brink of yet another summer, I can’t help but reflect on the significance of those 18 precious summers representing time slipping through my fingers like grains of sand.

♥️ It’s a reminder to slow down, to savor each moment, and to prioritize things that truly matter in life.

💡 I hope you too experience one of these moments where everything suddenly clicks into place,
and you realized that time is the most precious commodity we possess…
…far more valuable than material possessions and climbing the corporate ladder.

But, navigating through the hustle and bustle of work life, it’s easy to get caught up in the never-ending cycle of tasks and responsibilities.

So, to rise above the chaos, I’ve created 4 life-rules for myself.

☀️ Life Rule 1: Prioritize relationships over work.

While career success is important, it pales in comparison to the joy and fulfillment that comes from spending time with loved ones. Remember, you can always find another job, another income stream, but you can never get back lost time with those you hold dear.

☀️ Life Rule 2: Anchor into the present moment.

It’s easy to get caught up in worrying about the future or dwelling on the past, but the only moment we truly have is the present. Whether it’s a family picnic in the park or a spontaneous road trip with friends, these are the memories that will last a lifetime.

☀️ Life Rule 3: Practice gratitude daily.

If you are ambitious and a natural problem solver, it’s easy to overlook the blessings that surround you. Take a moment each day to reflect on the people and experiences you’re grateful for, and let them know how much they mean to you.

☀️ Life Rule 4: Invest in experiences, not things.

While material possessions may bring temporary happiness, it’s the experiences we share with others that leave a lasting impact. Instead of chasing after the latest gadgets or designer labels, focus on creating memories that will be cherished for years to come

♥️ The laughter shared with loved ones, the deep conversations over cups of coffee, and the simple moments of connection –

— all of these experiences enrich your life way more than simply cruising along on the ‘hustle-liner’.

After all, while we may be replaceable at work, we are irreplaceable in the hearts of those we love.

Go find your flow… then don’t let go.
